Caliber 25-20. Orig 24" full oct bbl, full length magazine tube, orig wood is exc+ with a rifle style buttplate. Overall gun is very elaborately engraved with a couple bbl bands at the muzzle and 4-5 bbl bands back by the the receiver. The receiver itself is outlined in gold and platinum with four fairly large animal inlays which are done in gold. The wood is in beautiful cond with very elaborate checkering and carving; buttplate is even very heavily engraved and gold inlaid. Orig 24" full oct bbl, full length magazine tube; rifle butt. Early 400 serial number range. Outstanding gun in exc cond retaining most all the blue with some very slight toning to the receiver, mint bore. Orig sights include buckhorn rear and folding Lyman tang. Orig wood is exc+ with the minor exception of the small initials 'TH' on the right hand side of the upper forearm that stand about 1/4" high (done at the period of usage-I don't feel it distracts from the gun); 90% orig varnish; complete with rifle style buttplate. This gun was received in the warehouse August 24, 1892 and I believe it was shipped the same day. It was received back in the warehouse in August of 1900 for a re-work but it doesn't say what was done-I believe the Maxim silencer (which is missing) was installed at that time as the gun is threaded at the muzzle. A knurled cap is in place over the theads to cover them. The quality of work is far too good for it not to have been done at the factory. Extremely fine, good looking Winchester Model 92 with great features, exc case colors on the hammer and lever. Hard to improve upon. e

This gun is a fixer up special. It does have the good parts: full oct bbl, full length mag, reasonably nice metal, some bluing on the bbl and mag tube-the remainder is an old looking antique brownish color. The receiver has mostly toned to a medium brown patina; not bad looking. Here's where the problem starts: there's a few pieces missing such as the loading gate, it has replacement sights and the comb has been modifled on the buttstock and it is a carbine style buttplate. The forearm is in reasonably good cond with a lot of dings, scrapes, scratches, etc and one slight little chip missing toward the forearm cap. A good plus on this gun is that the action is quite nice; another minus is that the bore is rather dark and could use a good cleaning, maybe it would come out better than it looks right now. As stated, this is a fixer upper but the price is right. e

80-85% blue on the 20” round bbl, rec is mostly a medium brown patina coloration with blue in the protected areas. Very nice fitting wood with no cracks or losses.
