(EL-MSG529) FACTORY ENGRAVED ITHACA GRADE 4-E SINGLE BBL TRAP
12 Gauge. 32" vent rib bbl, case colored frame, auto eject, receiver is scroll engraved with a scene of a trap shooter on one side and an Indian with a bow and arrow on the other side; scroll engraved triggerguard, ivory bead front sight and a finely checkered beavertail forend with ebony insert. Buttstock has an oval shaped inscruntion which is not marked, stock also sports an adjustable hardrubber buttpad. Complete with some provenance to Buell D. Kennedy who was a shooting companion of General Curtis LeMay, Jimmy Doolittle and actor/shooter Robert Stach. Nice, tight, solid gun with almost all bbl blue remaining-some thinning; case colors are visible but have faded considerably, exc bore, VG cond wood with some usage marks. Very fine trap gun. e

Measuring less than 32" overall with a 16" half oct, half round bbl, nicely engraved lock is marked 'Fisher', back of the breach is nicely engraved with 2 platinum inlaid lines. Orig walnut stock in very fine cond with most orig varnish, checkered wrist, shotgun butt. These miniature guns made for a child or youth are very unusual; this one is exceptionally well done and retains a nice plum brown patina coloration overall. Mech cond is exc. e

Marked on top of the rib: 'Premier Quality'. Receiver is beautifully engraved with a waterfall scene and several ducks on one side, several different heron surrounded by delicate scroll engraving on the bottom of the receiver; beautifully done! Gun is in exc cond with a considerable amount of orig case colors on the sideplates and the bottom of the frame, bbls retain most of the orig damascus pattern, exc bores. Wood has been restocked with a beavertail style forearm, buttstock is also a replacement and measures 14-3/4" to the end of a red recoil pad; professionally checkered-nicely done. Mechanical cond is excellent.

Appears that the bbls have been reduced to 26", very little choke-just the last inch has choke in the bbls, bores are exc. Orig wood is in VG cond measuring 13-3/4" pull to the end of a red Joslyn recoil pad. Beavertail forearm, good, clean, sharp checkering, nicely figured stock. Receiver is in exc cond-very sharp and clean with 30-40% case colors, complete with the gold inlaid crown on the lever, bbls are generally VG as well with 90% dulling blue on them. Bbl markings include the marking of 'Long Range Gun' which refers to its 3" chambers. There's a pointer engraved on each side of the receiver which was originally case colored and now has dimmed to a medium brown patina; bbls also have toned somewhat to a medium brownish blue, nice solid lock-up, exc bores. 32” Damascus barrel and Damascus magazine tube have turned a dark plum blue brown patina coloration; most Damascus pattern visible. Receiver turned mostly dark on right side and forward area of left-balance is a nickelly gray patina; sharp scroll and vine engraving with a hunter and dog scene on left side. Interesting that right side is marked ‘Spencer Arm Co.’ (without patent date). Engraving appears to be done by the New York master Louis D. Nimschke-quite elaborate. SN 1 is present on numerous parts throughout the gun. Of further interest is that the barrel bears the Model 1886 type address, the cond matches the rest of the gun perfectly and it appears no alterations have been made. VG walnut, short non-checkered pump handle, checkering on pistol grip somewhat worn; otherwise VG+ walnut. The carrier’s forward area is of a different design than seen on other 1884’s, etc.; the slot is very short. VG shiny bore with a few pits. Overall gun is in excellent condition with the barrels retaining 99% original lustrous blue, generous darkening case colors are intact on the frame which features dog scenes on the sides and a duck scene on the bottom, partridge on the triggerguard. Near exc walnut with light varnish added to the back half of the stock, old red rubber pad is a bit squashed, fancy checkering is in fine shape.
