(13-650) EXTREMELY FINE CASED DELUXE ENGRAVED SMITH PATENTED CIVIL WAR CARBINE

Serial number 5. This is undoubtedly the finest of it's kind, engraved by Gustavas Young with Civil War battle scenes motif within a panel on the triggerguard; Civil War Union Officer motif in a panel on top of the frame. Gun is absolutely sensational with deluxe fancy burl wood retaining all the high gloss lacquer finish, bbl retains virtually all the blue, case colors on the frame are at 85% strong. Triggerguard, hammer, buttplate and every other part are elaborately engraved. Cased in a deluxe presentation rosewood case with various accoutrements accompanying the gun including a loading tool, percussion caps, sling, etc. This has to rate among the highest of any Civil War Presentation carbines of its kind. (MR430-11-325) EXTRAORDINARY CIVIL WAR, CASED WHITWORTH PERCUSSION TARGET OR SNIPER RIFLE IN 50 CALIBER

Overall cond of this gun is absolutely extraordinary with all the vivid case colors, exc markings, wood is absolutely untouched, the case is in perfect cond with the Whitworth trade label in the lid and contains numerous compartments; some covered, some exposed. Many accoutrements such as molds, loading tools, powder flask, wads, etc accompany this gun, all of which are in as-new cond. Whitworth was know for his accuracy and was quite sought after by the Confederate Army for sniper rifles. Marked on the top flats of the bbl is ‘Samuel Ebrall’ and engraved on the bbl is ‘Rifled by Lord Berwick’, right side of stock also has the makers name ‘Samuel Ebrall Maker Shrewsbury’. Accompanying this rifle is a copy of the British patent dated 1860 granting the right to the Honorable Richard Lord Berwick for improvements in rifling; which in this gun are similar to Medford’s style of rifling and is quite unique and known for it’s accuracy I understand. 28” full round bbl, orig sights, orig wood generally VG. This gun appears to be engraved by Nimschke; fairly elaborately with a ribbon banner on both sides of the receiver; the balance of the work is done in a scroll pattern-only about 3 or 4 of these Spencer’s were ever engraved. 36 Caliber, 9 Shot with an under bbl of about Caliber 44. Overall gun is in beautiful cond with a considerable amount of orig bright blue, some turning brown, exc case colors on the recoil shield and the protected areas of the frame. Checkered walnut grips are fine with the correct Lanyard loop in the butt. Mechanically crisp, exc markings. Very rare gun-only several of these have been encountered in the pinfire version. (MR414-13-665) CASED MAYNARD 1873 MODEL 15 FOUR BBL SET

Very interesting outfit: one of the bbls is a 30" rapid taper lightweight marked 'Stevens Pope' in 22 Caliber. Another one is a 25-25 Single Shot, the 3rd one is a 40-40 Maynard and there's a 20 Gauge shotgun bbl. All fitted in a case with numerous accessories such as 44 Maynard Model 1873 bullet starter, 25-20 Single Shot Model 1882 bullet starter, powder flask and various reloading supplies as well as a couple shooting kits with numerous cartridges in it; also parts, bolts and misc items. Gun is fitted with a 3/4" scope that is very uniquely off-set; also fitted on the gun is a target folding tang sight. Very unique set; the wood is of a 3X quality, nicely checkered with a Swiss style buttplate.
