Built in 1889. Receiver is mostly a grayish coloration, bbl has toned to a grayish brown patina, wood is in good to VG cond and is nice fitting. Action is nice, bore is good to VG with no pitting, nice riflings but some roughness. This is a decent Winchester in the desirable 45-70 Caliber. e

Case colored frame which has been cleaned, traces of case hardening remain, some extra figure in the wood which fits reasonably good and is in good cond with no cracks or losses; rifle butt. Bore is in fair to good cond; a good cleaning may bring it up to VG. Some modifications have been done to the gun; you can see a dovetail underneath the bbl-nice job that looks like it was done long ago. Decent gun. e

Relatively good overall cond with the bbl a very pleasing plum brown, some blue in protected areas, receiver has turned the normal grayish antiquey looking color. This is a relatively early gun in the 23,XXX serial range, wood is in good cond, nice fitting with no cracks or losses on either the buttstock or forearm. Caliber 38-56. Crescent butt, extra figure wood. Gun has pretty much grayed out; appears like it has probably been cleaned at some point, receiver is an antique grayish brown coloration. Wood is in relatively good cond but the buttstock has been repaired towards the back of the tang in the wrist area. Orig 22" half oct bbl, half length magazine with a take down style frame. Orig wood is in exc cond with 60-70% orig varnish; complete with correct shotgun style buttplate. One fairly significant ding in the left hand side of the forearm but wood is still very near exc with no splits or cracks. Overall metal is exc with 95% slightly toning bbl and mag blue, 75-80% orig blue remaining on the receiver-starting to thin somewhat, exc traces of case color on the hammer and lever. This gun consists of what appears to be an orig 86 saddlering receiver, the rifle bbl and mag tube were originally a 50 Express caliber but cut to approximately 22" in length, bbl retaining band is in the right place. Orig wood is generally VG; rifle style buttplate. Overall metal has turned a plum brownish coloration but still fairly smooth and clean, VG shootable bore. (2748P-12-307) WINCHESTER MODEL 1886 FACTORY ENGRAVED LIGHTWEIGHT RIFLE

Caliber 33. I believe this gun to be one of the specially designed guns that was configured for the Extra Finish Arms catalog of 1914 that never materialized. The engraving on it is different than is usually encountered, more of a modern style than most patterns they were using. Guaranteed 100% orig with extra length stock, pistol grip checkered deluxe 3X wood is in exc cond with shotgun style butt and oil style finish. Orig sights, exc bore, takedown frame with 24" tapered bbl and a half length magazine. Gun features a grizzly in an oval on one side and a pair of moose in an oval on the other. This gun has all the good features: octagon bbl, full mag, crescent butt. Metal is relatively clean and smooth, nice sharp octagons, good bbl markings, bore is VG. The bbl retains some blue, more towards the muzzle end; otherwise drifting to a brown and some blue is wore in areas. Receiver has turned mostly to that molten gray look. Half round, half oct, button mag. This 1886 was originally case colored with some case colors still remaining especially on the left hand side under the Lyman 21 sight. Bbl is mostly a gray brown patina, standard front sight and blank in rear slot, somewhat rough bore, action is very nice, some case colors remain on hammer & lever. This gun is British proofed and evidently sent to England to be a big caliber hunting rifle. If so, it hasn't been used much as the bbl retains 95-98% blue-a few little marks on it. Receiver also carries most the blue with light wear at the carry point. Wood is in very fine cond, no cracks or losses; very nice with just a few standard hunting and handling marks, forearm in good cond as well. 3-leaf express type sight and a low proflle post front, action and bore are both exc.
